Firefighters in Saratoga County were called at around 2:20 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, for a structure fire in Ballston on Dominic Drive, according to New York State Police.

Members of the Ballston Spa Fire Department isolated and extinguished the fire, and determined it was suspicious. There were no reports of injuries.

Several additional agencies responded, including the Saratoga County Office of Emergency Management, and concluded that the fire had been intentionally set by David Fink inside his apartment unit.

Prior to starting the fire, Fink disabled the building's fire suppression system and fire alarms in his unit, police said.

Troopers located Fink hours later near the complex and arrested him on suspicion of arson and reckless endangerment.

He was arraigned at Ballston Town Court and later released to the Saratoga County Probation Department.

Investigators did not elaborate on the extent of damage or provide a dollar estimate.
